ARCHITECT@WORK, the annual curated two-day event, had its eighth showing at the Old Truman Brewery on 29th and 30th January. The show attracted a total of 1,968 architects, specifiers and designers attending.
72 leading European architectural suppliers showed their innovative new products and offered up the latest innovations in surface solutions, lighting technology as well as interior and exterior fixtures and fittings. All exhibitors went through a rigorous selection process, with an external judging panel overseeing the product selection, to ensure that this is one of the UK’s most highly respected trade shows of its kind.
One of the most popular elements of the show was the seminar programme, which saw hundreds of people attend to see big names discuss everything from practical applications to more artistic endeavours related to light.
To honour the show’s theme, the MaterialDriven presented DESIGNING FOR THE SENSES, design which enhances awareness of the material world and creates an emotional reaction to it through stimulation of our visceral responses. It encompasses both experimental work and practical solutions designed to inspire wonder and new ways of connecting to our surroundings. Certain materials activate different senses, and with deeper exploration and engagement, this response can be harnessed into the design of our products and environments.
The next edition is set to be held in the last week of January 2021 – be sure to mark this in your agenda!
